Message from the Director of Children's Services
I am really pleased that my Lead Member and other colleagues have contributed their messages to this recruitment campaign, both good evidence of our team working approach and gives you a more rounded set of voices to describe the role and the borough. I have only been here for six months (although it does feel like longer – in a good way!) and so I am going to focus more on describing what I want from an outstanding candidate.
I am looking for someone who is driven by their values. Someone who is child-centred and focused on ensuring that every child is able to fulfil their potential. Someone whose behaviour exemplifies public service in being focused upon our young residents, their outcomes and the quality of provision that they receive.
Message from the Lead Member
Here in Tower Hamlets we see the power of education as crucial for improving the life chances of our children and our community. Our administration prides itself on enhancing the quality of our educational offer, as a key element to ensure that we deliver on our vision of ensuring every chance for every child to be healthy, happy, safe and successful. We are also determined to improve our offer and services for children with special educational needs and disabilities, in particular.
The Tower Hamlets success story of school improvement is the strong foundation upon which we are building. But we are not complacent. The local authority works closely with our family of schools and the Tower Hamlets Education Partnership to make further progress in narrowing gaps in educational attainment and driving up the quality of teaching. Your role will be crucial in this work, building the effective partnerships and overseeing the local authority services that support our schools and families in this area.
Cllr Danny Hassell, Cabinet Member for Children and Schools
