Director of Education role
Children in Tower Hamlets get a great education – are you the leader to make it even better?
Tower Hamlets is an amazing place. We have a fascinating history characterised by waves of immigration linked to our dockland past; we have the most extraordinary extremes of wealth and deprivation, with often overcrowded and dense housing in sight of the towers of Canary Wharf; and we have an inspiring education story in which our schools and settings have developed over two decades from amongst the worst in London to amongst the best.
Our results speak for themselves, and it is no coincidence that Mayflower Primary School was named Sunday Times primary school of the year!
Our borough is also a demanding place. The Mayor and members rightly take a close interest in the experience for every child growing up in the borough and in the need to work hard in addressing inequalities. Partnership working is a real strength, both with our schools and across the wider partnership, but the culture here of continual improvement means nobody can ever sit on their laurels.
We want a new Director for Education who wants to be a part of Tower Hamlets’ story and who wants to make a difference for our children and young people.
