Description
Tower Hamlets has delivered the most dramatic transformation of educational standards within the overall success story of London’s education. Our schools continue to be regularly recognised in the national press and recognised by leading educationalists both in the UK and further afield, acknowledging the amazing work we are doing and the positive impact we are making on young lives in the borough.
We will not rest on our laurels, and we recognise the challenges that lie ahead, in particular the potentially long-term negative impact of COVID-19. Addressing education inequality is at the forefront of the council’s mind, and the foundation of creating meaningful work and economic prosperity for the residents of our community.
With the support of our recently appointed Corporate Director of Children & Culture, James Thomas, you will be instrumental in driving a successful local strategy for school improvement which will be delivered through the Tower Hamlets Education Partnership, ensuring that we have sufficient provision of high quality in a dynamic demographic context, and leading improvement across the partnership for those with SEND and who are vulnerable.
Success will depend upon engaging and managing the relationship between the council and all schools and educational providers. By working together including with a wider set of partners, we know we can provide excellent educational outcomes for our diverse community.
We are looking for someone who will be creative, brave enough to accelerate innovative ideas, and who can develop an effective team and team working with corporate colleagues to deliver all the council’s aspirations.
